title. Messages in a Bottle
statement.
At the start of this project students were given the prompt: If the river had a message to say to humans, what would it say? Students responded to that prompt by creating paintings, drawings, and poems that answered what the river’s message would be to them. To showcase these messages, we created a literal room size bottle out of used donated plastic water bottles, so that the viewer could walk into the large bottle and see how the students responded. This project was showcased at an event called Water Day, put on by 5th and 6th grade students of Renaissance School. This specific art project was to encourage our community to reflect on what the river would say to them.
