title. The Repurposed Quilt Project

statement.

As students at Renaissance Public School Academy learned about the effects single use products have on our environment, The Repurposed Quilt Project began. The Repurposed Quilt Project consists of about 200 used dryer sheets that have been stitched together by hundreds of students at Renaissance. Each dryer sheet was painted using dried out markers, that normally would have been thrown away, but instead were soaked in water, to create the vibrant watercolors seen on the quilt. We used art as our voice to communicate the magnitude of discarded single use products.

This project was showcased at an event called Water Day, put on by 5th and 6th grade students of Renaissance School.
